About AHCA

Meet the Arkansas Health Care Association team, who are driven by their commitment to supporting and enhancing long-term care facilities through advocacy, education, and resource provision.

Established in 1951, Arkansas Health Care Association (AHCA) is the state’s largest organization of long term care providers, representing more than 90% of the licensed long term care facilities in Arkansas. Its responsibilities are to educate, inform and represent members and member facilities before government agencies, other trade associations and related industries.

The organization provides training, education and assistance to care facilities across the state, promoting high-quality care for patients and strict professional standards for staff. AHCA also strives to cooperate with the state legislature and state Office of Long Term Care to improve the quality of life in Arkansas nursing homes.

AALA is dedicated to establishing the highest standards of excellence for assisted living professionals providing housing, assisted living and related services to Arkansas seniors. AALA strives to ensure the right of every Arkansas senior who needs daily assistance to receive the highest quality care in a choice-driven, dignified, safe and clean environment, and to promote independence and maintain the highest quality of life. We believe that our seniors should feel that they are “living in their own home.”

Assisted Living

More and more Americans are discovering the benefits of assisted living. While services vary, most generally include access to round-the-clock care and medical attention, along with dining and a range of housekeeping services. Options can include:

  • Personal care services and assistance

  • Full meal preparation and dining

  • Medication management or assistance

  • Social services

  • Planned recreational and entertainment

  • Spiritual activities

  • Exercise and wellness programs

  • Laundry and linen service

  • Housekeeping and maintenance

  • Transportation arrangements

Many facilities also offer specific services for individuals with Alzheimer’s, other dementias or disabilities. These can include supervision, additional assistance and safety precautions, as well as related considerations. We encourage you to discuss any special needs or concerns during the search process.
